الحمامة الزرقاء ذات التاج The Blue Crowned Pigeon

ليست حمامةً بالشكل التقليدي الذي نعرفه للحمام بل تبدو أقرب لكائن خيالي من قصص ألف ليلة وليلة ، إنها الحمامة الزرقاء المتوّجة التي تحمل اسماً على مسمى، فتتميز هذه الحمامة بلون أزرق مدهش بتدرجات مختلفة، ويوجد ريش على شكل تاج أعلى رأسها وكأنها ملكة متوجة!! تعيش الحمامة الزرقاء المتوّجة في مكان واحد فقط في العالم هو غابات الأراضي المنخفضة في جزيرة نيو غينيا جنوب غرب المحيط الهادي وهي أحد الأنواع المهددة بالانقراض.

وتُعد الحمامة الزرقاء المتوجة أكبر أنواع الحمام حيث يقارب حجمها حجم الديك الرومي، ويصل طولها إلى 70 سم ووزنها 2 كيلوجرام. يصعب التفريق بين الذكر والأنثى في هذا النوع بسبب تشابه الشكل الخارجي للاثنين، لكن الذكر عادةً ما يكون أكبر بقليل من الأنثى. وتلاحظون تميز الحمامة الزرقاء المتوجة بريش أزرق داكن حول عيونها يعطيها شكلاً بديعاً !

It’s the blue crowned pigeon. This blue crowned pigeon characterized by amazing different blue tones , and there are feathers in the form of a crown above its head like a crowned Queen!!

Crowned blue pigeon live in only one place in the world in the low land forests of New Guinea island of South West Pacific. It is also one of the threatened species. The crowned blue pigeon is one of the largest types of pigeons, approximately the size of turkeys, and up to 70 cm in length and weighs 2 kg.

Difficult to differentiate between male and female in this type because of the similarity of the two external shape, but the male is usually slightly larger than the female. You will note that the blue crowned pigeon has feathers dark blue around its eyes gives it a very beautiful look!

This family of pigeons have several types such as the blue crowned pigeons which you saw its photos above, which known as the Crested Western Pigeon ,and there is another kind of crowned South Pigeon of a similar but much dark red feathers in the chest area.
